Come join our team!Arcosa Traffic Structures is searching for a Structures Design Engineer.

The Structures Design Engineer will be skilled in structural design and analysis of prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and steel members; Skilled in the interpretation and application of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications; Preferably skilled in the use and preparation of the FDOT, GDOT, SCDOT, TXDOT, NCDOT policies and procedures in the areas of Structures Design, Roadway Design, and Construction Specifications; Skilled in the preparation and review of the structural drawings; Ability to plan, coordinate and implement DOT Structural Standards Plans; Knowledge of structuraldesign software, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office; Ability to communicate effectively and work independently; Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Location: Sumterville, FLWhat You’ll do:Analyzes prospective customer’s Technical specifications, design tables, and design build projectsDesigns overhead steel structures, mast arms, strain poles, miscellaneous steel structures and reinforced concrete foundations.Review and redesign as required by customer changes.Design structural components for large-scale projects, including analyzing survey reports, topographical maps, zoning restrictions and client requirements to ensure specifications meet project goalsReview blueprints, plans and change orders to verify structural integrity of materials and designs, and perform complex calculations and use modeling methods to ensure correct resultsParticipate in initial planning and bidding processes, including reviewing environmental factors, government regulations, constructions costs and risk analysis reports to prepare comprehensive study on all relevant design factorsResearch existing and new material technology to determine practical applications, strength and durability expectations and cost-benefits information, and prepare material recommendations for current and future projectsCreate and present structural overviews for upcoming projects, and develop reports that include technical details for engineers as well as big-picture analysis and cost estimates for project managers and senior executivesUse AutoCAD and other drafting software programs to create 2D design documents and 3D models for individual components and overall structural plans according to client needs and project requirements for deliverablesPrepare documentation for private and government clients covering project plans and progress, change orders, environmental impact findings, ownership transfers and other relevant informationWhat You’ll need:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering with a background in Structural Design or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts.Master’s Degree in Engineering PreferredProfessional Engineering License RequiredSteel Design coursework and proficient with AutoCADMinimum of 5 years’ experience or relevant DOT work experienceMinimum of 5 years’ plus experience in Over-Head Sign Structures or Mast Arms preferredTheoretical understanding of Basic Structural Engineering fundamentalsAbility to work as part of a teamSafety Sensitive: YesBenefits:Health & PharmacyDental& VisionCriticalIllnessFlexible Spending AccountsCompany Paid Life & AD&D InsuranceVoluntary Life & AD&D Insurance401(k) W/Company MatchShort-Term DisabilityVoluntary Long-Term DisabilityEmployee Assistance Program
