Senior / Research Associate – Assay Development

About the role: We are looking for an outstanding individual to join the Molecular Biology team as a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record of developing innovative molecular biology protocols for solving complex problems, in the field of spatial biology.

You should be driven by making great products and enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative and truly multi-disciplinary environment.

You will interact closely with colleagues in computational biology, software, chemistry and microfluidics, and apply your skills and knowledge to optimize and evaluate new assays in the area of spatial transcriptomics.

What you will be doing: Support the method development and optimization of novel molecular biology assay schemes for spatial transcriptomic and single cell applications including molecular barcoding, nucleic acid amplification, and NGS library preparation Support, plan and perform systematic workflow and reagent optimization by modeling, identification of critical factors and use of formal design of experiment (DOE) approaches Contribute molecular biology and microscopy expertise to cross-disciplinary product development teams Work closely with computational biologists to interpret data generated by novel and optimized assay schemes Plan and perform experiments, and analyze their subsequent data Write protocols, develop procedures, and maintain accurate records Clearly communicate and present results; contribute data for making critical design decisions To be successful in this role, you will need: BS/MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field and 2-5 years of full time, hands-on molecular biology and/or spatial biology experience in an academic or industrial setting Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques such as sample preparation, nucleic acid amplification and purification (RNA/DNA), qPCR, and DNA sequencing Familiarity with microscopy skills, including immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry Experience in troubleshooting and optimization of molecular biology assays including reagent formulation and workflow optimization Hands-on experience with next generation sequencing library preparation workflows Experience with experimental design and data analysis Strong written and oral communication skills Experience performing complex multi-step experiments with detailed and diligent attention to planning, organization, hands-on technique, and record keeping Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization, which requires real-time communication, flexibility, working well with others, and a willingness to learn new techniques and methods Additionally, we’d like to see: Experience in product development including product release Experience with primary tissues and/or spatial transcriptomics Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE)
