The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Senior Product Repair / Mod Technician to join the Maintenance & Fabrication team in Kennedy Space Center, FL. Position Responsibilities: • Performs the assembly, disassembly and modification of systems by overseeing the change, removal, replacement or upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes • Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul • Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment • Plans and performs calibration certification services • Performs troubleshooting of complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components • Oversees validation/verification testing of systems and components • Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results) • Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements • Perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking, towing, system operations) • Works under minimal direction This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Confidential Clearance Post-Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience): • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Human Spaceflight hardware. • Minimum 5 years of experience with spacecraft manufacturing, assembly, modification, and repair. • 3 years’ experience of repair, maintenance, and retrofit processes and procedures. • Proficient (3+ years experience) in the use and operation of dimensional measurements equipment. • The ability (1+ years experience) to read and understand basic and complex engineering drawings and specifications. • Minimum 3 years of industrial sewing experience. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience): * Verbal and written communication skills
* Basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
* Experience in the use of Electronic Work Order / Planning systems
* Current skills certifications / training
* Familiar with the following standards: NASA-STD-8739
* Proficient at operating industrial sewing machines to perform sewing operations on all products. Knowledge and experience using industrial sewing machines is required. Candidate must possess sound hand-eye coordination and be able to cope with moderate physical effort.
* Operate and/or tend sewing machines to join, reinforce or perform related sewing operations in the manufacturing of covers and other soft goods.
* Construct product from patterns and templates according to defined SOPs and quality standards Remove stitches to be altered and/ or repaired
* Set up single needle machines – thread, tension, change needles, and wind bobbins
* Meet and record daily production sewing goals
* Ability to receive constructive feedback from other team members and willingness to fix and learn from mistakes
* Maintain a clean and organized production
* Electronic or mechanical experience
* Associates Degree or higher Relocation: This position is based in Kennedy Space Center, FL and does not offer relocation assistance. This is not a negotiable benefit. Applicants must reside in the area or be willing to relocate at their own expense. Typical Education / Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 7 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+5 years’ related work, Bachelor+2 years’ related work, etc.)
