Job Description
A private family in West Palm Beach, FL seeks an experienced professional Formal Butler/Houseman who will take full charge of their residence and travel to Southampton, NY in the summers. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Providing exemplary formal service to principals and guests
- Ensuring a safe, organized, and spotless household at all times
- Acting as household handy-man and assisting with facilities and household maintenance tasks
- Event planning and execution; includes set-up, formal service, and post-event clean up
- Acting as a gatekeeper for principals; liaising with staff as well as vendors and contractors
- Overseeing household calendars and providing prior notification to the family and staff of the scheduling of events and estate maintenance/repair activities
- Coordinating with the Chef to assist with kitchen/dining room operations and oversee daily meal service
- Serving meals – both formal & informal: Plated & French table service
- Conducting inventory and procuring household supplies
- Daily maintenance and hands-on housekeeping duties; includes caring for fine art, furniture, and antiques; polishing fine surfaces (silver, brass, china, crystal, marble, etc.)
- Plant/flower care and maintenance according to house standards
- Maintaining all indoor and outdoor facilities; includes fleet of vehicles, pool, tennis court, etc.
- Driving principals to and from engagements; from & to, pick-up & drop-offs
- Handling special requests, errands, and related duties as needed
Hours: November 1st – April 30th: 1 pm – 9:30 pm, Wednesday – Sunday from w/ 1 weekend off per month. July – September: 9 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday.
Travel: July – Labor Day in Southampton, NY (local housing provided in the Hamptons)
Benefits: Health insurance plan is reimbursed by the employer. Vacation (2 weeks) taken between May & June or between September & October. Sick days. Year-end bonus depending on performance
Salary: Depends on experience
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience with private families/individuals
- Superb command of the English language, both written and oral, is required
- Must be technologically proficient; includes answering emails, Microsoft Word, etc.
- Handyman skillsets: facilities operation & management
- Understanding that the utmost confidentiality and discretion is required
- Proactive attitude: self-starter who can assist with any relevant duties assigned
- Creative problem-solver with the flexibility to think outside-of-the-box
- Highest level of support for clients
- Poised and professional at all times
- Flexibility for frequent travel between residences
- Valid Passport
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must have valid US work authorization
