Job Description:

  • We are seeking a Scientist (Level 6) Systems Engineer Geospatial Solutions Engineer Data Architect with potential for international business travel to the Middle East (UAE) nominally 10% of the time. This is a senior role requiring the design and implementation of geospatial systems for a variety of military and security customers.
  • The role requires the application of the latest geospatial solutions, products, and international standards to help address a wide variety of geospatial needs including design of mapping/imaging products workflows, geospatial databases, multi-sensor information correlation, and advanced visualization techniques.
  • The focus is on the design of interoperable systems that work with international standards and allow our customers the ability to extend and scale the systems we design for them.
  • Close coordination with the end users and other engineering disciplines is required to shape and define the requirements, along with the development of proposals and working with third party vendors/contractors as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Software or Systems Engineering (or similar technical discipline)
  • 12 years of related experience (or 10+ years with a Masters degree)
  • 8+ years of GeoInt Systems
  • 10+ years of Communication Systems experience
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other disciplines (Digital, RF, Mechanical, Software, I&T, Manufacturing, etc.).
  • 8+ years in Requirements managements, traceability and verification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Overall design and documentation of geospatial solutions that store, manage, and disseminate geospatial products
  • Design of products that support a scalable geospatial data architecture supporting federation, redundancy, and interoperability, and utilize international standards such as the ones defined by the OGC
  • Understanding of how geospatial products support GeoInt, C4ISR, EW, Maritime, AF, and Security workflows and help customers understand how they can apply them to their current workflows
  • Expertise in one or more of the following aerial imaging modalities: EO, IR, SAR, Spectral, LIDAR
  • Implementation of image processing workflows including orthorectification, color balancing, mosaicking, denoising, imaging quality metrics, and feature extraction
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following programming languages: C++, Java, C#, Python, MATLAB, IDL. In addition, expertise with ESRI products and technologies is a plus.
  • Understanding of web technologies and private cloud solutions and their application to geospatial systems
  • Familiarity with AI and ML techniques and their application to geospatial products or database systems for the analysis of big data
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture standards such as TOGAF or DODAF is a plus
  • Strong technical proposal writing skills

Preferred/Additional Skills:

  • Experience in Commercial GeoInt technologies
  • C4ISR Systems and Operations experience
  • Requirements managements, traceability and verification with IBM Rational DOORS or similar tool
  • Communication Systems experience
  • Knowledge of SATCOM systems, fiber optic media converter systems, data links, RF systems, and Modems.
  • Experience with Government contracting, proposal writing, and business acquisition process
  • Knowledgeable in the application of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) process and tools
