Simulation and Training Facilities Engineer

This is a Full-time position in Orlando, FL posted January 4, 2021.

KBR has an immediate need for an energetic Facilities Engineer at either our Orlando, FL or Orange Park, FL (Jacksonville area) location. Our team provides engineering and logistics management support to DoD organizations developing trainers and simulators for military aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, naval surface vessels, and manned/semi-autonomous watercraft.

This engineer will primarily support analyses for naval surface vessel trainers and simulators but could include other systems.

The mission of the facilities engineer is to provide guidance and recommendations to our government clients about facilities issues affecting installation or maintenance of naval surface trainers and simulators.

Preferred Qualifications Licensed Professional Engineer.

DAWIA Facilities Engineering or Systems Engineering certification.

Experience with military construction (MILCON) projects, preferably related to NAVFAC.

Experience working on one or more multidisciplinary Integrated Product Specific responsibilities will include the following: Coordinate with Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) to ensure specifications for new construction will meet the needs of the trainers and simulators to be installed in new facilities Prepare and contribute to statements of work and specifications for modifications to facilities to enable trainer installations Perform and evaluate site surveys to inspect completed or in progress construction work and ensure suitability of facilities for installation of trainers and simulators Develop independent government cost estimates for modifications to facilities Source quotes from various contractors to perform modifications to facilities Coordinate long term plans with many different government organizations and contractors Coordinate with government facilities engineers to ensure accomplishment of all objectives without duplicating efforts This position may require travel domestically to one ore more trainer installation sites.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline  and a minimum of 5 years combined related experience in a project environment with a strong understanding of the means and methods of construction.

In lieu of a degree 13 years of related experience is acceptable.

Technical and functional knowledge of site and building systems including site utility distribution, structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, HVAC, water filtration, fire protection, etc.

Ability to read and understand construction and equipment drawings and specifications.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels within the organization.

Currently possess or capable of obtaining a DoD secret security clearance.

Teams (IPT) simultaneously.

Functional knowledge of specialty technology systems used within the simulation and training industry.

Ability to coordinate efforts within complex organizations.
